Near misses, accidents, and risks must be managed in a way that prevents further incidents from occurring.
Framtiden AB strives to always prevent risks that could lead to illness or accidents for our employees. We adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act: "If an employee suffers from illness or an accident at work, or if a serious near miss occurs in the workplace, the employer must investigate the causes to prevent further risks of illness or accidents" (AFS 2023:1 § 12).
WHAT IS CONSIDERED A NEAR MISS OR AN ACCIDENT?
A near miss refers to an unwanted event that could have led to illness or an accident but did not result in harm or illness. However, near misses provide valuable information on how work can be done more safely and effectively moving forward. It’s better to report a near miss once too often than once too little. When something happens that causes personal injury or illness, it is considered an accident. What may be a near miss for one person could be an accident for another.
Example: an object falls from a high height, misses person 1 but hits person 2, causing a wound on their arm. This is considered a near miss for person 1 but an accident for person 2. Near misses are often associated with the word "Oops!" while accidents are linked with "Ouch!"
In the case of a Near Miss ("OJ") or Work Injury ("AJ"), you are required to inform the Consultant Manager at Framtiden and your manager at the consulting assignment.
